Mooncake Festival 2017

Mooncake Festival 2017

No mid-autumn affair is complete without some mooncakes. Those glorious golden brown pastries that are traditionally the perfect pairing with Chinese tea. Over the years, the snowskin option has gained popularity and as such, the lotus seed paste or red bean paste has also evolved into flavors that one wouldn’t dream of previously. Chicken Bak Kwa Ren Mooncake and Tom Yum flavoured mooncake by Bakerzin are just some examples.

Apart from that, restaurants and bakeries are also getting creative with the appearance of the mooncakes. As more and more establishments join in, the competition intensifies. The only way to stand out from the plethora of choices is to enhance the appearance of the mooncake. Thus, it created the need to beautify and re-create not only the packaging, but also the mooncakes itself. Hence, we present to you, the five most instagrammable mooncakes for the Mooncake Festival 2017. Because these days, it’s all about the stunning visuals

mooncake festival 2017 kele

KELE

The very first mooncake on our list will definitely have to be the Mao Shan Wang durian snowskin mooncake from Kele. Mysterious and luxurious, it does not conform to traditional standards at all. While one does not usually associate Chinese products with black, the gold certainly looks more striking against it.

Lovers of the ‘king of the fruits’ will enjoy the bittersweet goodness and creamy, luscious texture of KELE’s signature Mao Shan Wang Durian Snowskin mooncake. Many brands have showcased durian flavoured mooncakes as part of their mooncake collection. However, this particular mooncake definitely stands out from the crowd with its bold and regal appearance. If you want to impress, bring this, because it is pretty hard to outdo.

Drop by their booth at the mid autumn roadshow at Takashimaya B2 square during the Mooncake Festival 2017 between 31 August – 4 October. From now till 16th September, you’ll get 20% off and from 17 September- 24 September you’ll get 10% off. If you do not want to miss out, you will probably want to hurry down!

Golden Moments

The Durian Artisan was created by three young Singaporeans who aim to bring families closer through these lovingly handcrafted durian delicacies.

In terms of visuals, this mooncake is as equally stunning as the previous two mooncake in our opinion. Each glittery, gold dusted mooncake stars a rich and creamy pure Mao Shan Wang filling. The precious filling has an encasing of healthy bamboo charcoal snowskin. They contain no preservatives, no cream and no added sugar, which makes them perfect for weight watchers.

Cherry Garden

From 10 August to 4 October 2017, you can enjoy an alluring collection of artisanal snow skin mooncakes from the Cantonese restaurant at Mandarin Oriental Singapore. Expect to savour exciting flavours as such as Cherry Garden has taken the mooncake and completely reinvented it with flavours such as rose petals, chestnut, osmanthus as well as passionfruit and pistachio.
